How To Make The Last Day of School Extra Fun
I want to teach you how to make the Last Day of School extra fun in these easy steps! Find the best last day of school traditions to do for your kids!
Since it’s that time of year again, kids are getting antsy, and the teachers are on a countdown.
In fact, my own youngsters have started a countdown; what about your littles?
Right now, I have a 7th grader, a fourth-grader, and a first grader that is just itching to be done with homework, and between us… So am I! Lol 😛
I know the last day of school may not be a holiday, but it sure feels like it. I mean, you get three months to play and drive mom crazy! How much better could it get right?! LOL.
As a mom and foster to adopt mama. I personally enjoy making the last day of school a celebration.
It’s a fun way to show the kiddos how proud I am of them. I want to be sure their hard work did not go unnoticed.
Activities throughout the year have included an Easter egg hunt as the children unloaded from the bus.
Also, right before spring break. My oldest daughter and I held streamers like this for my son and youngest daughter to run through.
It creates an atmosphere of going on a tiny adventure! Which youngster love!
Fun Things to Do on the Last Day of School
How To Celebrate School Year Memories? Have you heard of this book Oh, the Places You’ll Go?!
It’s a book from Dr. Seuss that you ask your Child’s teacher to sign each year of grade school, intermediate school, middle school, and even high school.
When graduation day comes, you’ll give it to them. Such a neat idea!
Next, when my son graduated from Pre-k (Preschool ideas) and my daughter ended her Kindergarten year.
I decorated our front porch with the last day of school sign. The sign read, “School’s Out for the Summer!”
Also included were colored circles (which I highly recommend using to hang them up!); it’s REALLY CHEAP, but it will not leave a mark or peel the paint!
Tip: It’s also useful for a ton of DIY craft ideas!
Below you will find a couple of pictures I took of the surprises!
Imagine looking on their faces with this wonderful last day of school surprise from mom! I added silly summer break glasses, coloring books, stickers, and balloons in the chairs. Perfect idea for summer parties!
Last Day of School Activities
Did someone say pool party? If you have a pool in the backyard, or heading to the beach?
A fantastic idea would be to surprise them with pool floats like a magical Unicorn pool float or this hilarious dinosaur float.
Which pool float would your child pick from the list?
Another last day of school water activity would be a water balloon fight!
Who wants to knock their kid’s socks off with this epic last day of school celebration idea?!
Your children could be greeted with a WELCOME TO SUMMER water balloon fight right after they get off the bus!
As a matter of fact, I will give you some creative ways to do this idea.
First, grab these Zuro Bunch O Balloons here! It only takes 60 seconds to fill these 350 water balloons! Awesome right?!
Add them to an empty sandbox or sandbox lid. As per the example below!
Next, since you get so many balloons with that bunch, and they’re easy to fill up!
A fun idea would be to make a trail from the bus stop to the backyard or water fight location.
You could even spell out a word with the balloons near the bus stop. Shorter words may work best!
That’s not all!
We love sharing water fight tips and tricks!
Lastly, for this section! Pick up Dollar Store buckets add the youngin’s names with a black marker. After that, fill the water buckets up with balloons. After your student gets off the bus, they’ll be ready to play!
Free Last Day of School Celebration Ideas
A free idea would be putting a twist on going to the park. You could do this by having your child’s favorite doll or stuffed animal waiting for them in the car.
Tip: Potentially, if you’re not worried about making it free, have balloons, candy, or a fun treat for a surprise inside the decorated vehicle!
In addition, another idea would be to make an ice block adventure.
With that said, this could be made completely free.
Take a bowl and fill it up 1/3 way full; add small toy figures already on hand.
Next freeze, after that, add another 1/3 of water and a few more small toys and repeat the steps until the bowl is full and the toys are all frozen in the ice.
It becomes a simple DIY craft idea that is brilliant and free.

Every year I love coming up with new celebration signs for my kids! In my opinion, it totally adds extra pizzazz! I like to put a theme or color to spruce it up.

How To Dress Up Your Vehicle For the Last Day of School
In fact, if you’re picking your child up from school. A fun way to surprise him or her is to decorate your vehicle.
Above is an example I did for my kids when my daughter graduated from 4th grade, and my son was moving up from second grade to third grade.
I used these chalk markers here and wrote fun things such as Congrats, grad on the window! Inside, I decorated the van with streamers and balloons.
It was soooo cute to see the surprise on their face when they looked inside.
It’s certainly a fun thing to do on the last day of school after school for your kid!

Whether your child has graduated from Pre-school, completed Kindergarten, is now a 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th grader, or beyond.
Surprising them with something as simple as a water fight, the last day of school sign or snack, or challenging them to a game of silly string. It sure is a fun way to kick off the summer!
