From balloons and water to easy-to-follow proven methods, read on for tips and advice from parents and teachers for the best water balloon fight.
Parents and Teachers: The Benefits of Water Balloon Fighting
First, it’s an important part of summer. Taking the time to give your children a balloon-filled family fun day is an amazing way to celebrate their accomplishments. It would be a fun activity to do on the last day of school!
Second, a simple backyard game. Fun water balloon games are as easy as tossing the balloon and if it drops it bursts so everybody gets wet, so it’s hilarious.
And third, to bond with your children. Nothing is better than spending quality time with your children or grandchildren. As a result, your child will have cherished childhood memories and may even pass these traditions on to their own children.
Choosing the Right Balloons for a Water Fight
When filling your water balloons, keep in mind that 10 children can use up to ten balloons within minutes, which already equals 100 balloons. Oh my! It adds up so quickly. No worries, we will let you in on a big secret that is extremely popular right now.
The secret is Zuru Bunch O Balloons! The fact that we don’t have to continue to fill the balloons the way we used to makes our lives much easier. There’s almost a sense that the packs fill up so fast from the hose that it almost appears that they come filled up already.
Making water balloons in the ’80s and ’90s was much more difficult. The water balloons would need to be filled one at a time. During my childhood, I remember making water balloons and dripping water all over the kitchen floor, which drove my mom crazy.
Josh Malone (a father of eight) has produced a fantastic invention that will fill 100 balloons at once. You can literally fill 100 balloons in 60 seconds without repeatedly stretching the end balloons around the faucet. Using this invention, we can add more splash to water balloons fight.
Tip: Don’t prepare the balloons too far in advance at the party. The water has been known to slowly leak out. Also, there could be a few duds in the bunch but the balloons do work brilliantly and I highly recommend them!

How To Host a Water Balloon Fight
Water Balloon Fight Experience
We started our water balloon fights over Memorial Day Weekend. It was so quick and easy to fill these water balloons. As a matter of fact, my brother-in-law had bunches of them made for our water party within a minute.
He used an empty sandbox and lid to display the balloons for the kids. The nice thing about using a sandbox is that you can use the sandbox itself to hold balloons and the lid (to also hold balloons) for the other team.
We broke up the teams into girls and boys. It was perfect for a fun summer activity!
Of course, a few of the water balloons did not bust on initial contact and temporarily got lost in the yard in the heat of the water fight.
The kids loved it because it was like an Easter egg hunt trying to find the balloons after the activities.
When my daughter would find one she would leak the water balloon on her head and my other daughter would try to hide it for the next water party, lol.
Water Balloon Fight: Five Simple Steps
Students are becoming restless, and teachers are counting down the days until summer vacation. Let me show you how to have an easier time with a water balloon fight by following these easy steps.
Here are five simple steps for organizing a water balloon fight:
#1 – Mow the Grass
Mowing grass is needed for safety since children can trip on wet and long grass more easily. You reduce the likelihood of them faceplanting into one of the containers holding the water balloons by cutting the grass. Further, water balloons usually break into 3 pieces, and in long grass, they will be more challenging to find
#2 – Two batches at once: How to do it
A hose spiltter can be used to fill up two batches of balloons at the same time, which will allow you to fill up even more balloons at once.
#3 – Water Balloon Fight Cost
In general, a water balloon fight costs around $10 per minute. For example, if you were to use this 100 Grenade Rapid-Filling Self-Sealing Water Balloons for ten children, the last I checked it was about $9.44 (please let me know if it’s changed). Within the first minute, most children use about 10 balloons. The following is a general guideline for estimating cost in advance for party planning.
#4 – How to Host a Water Balloon Party
A kiddie pool or sandbox lid are perfect for holding water balloons as a backyard centerpiece. Then, scatter 4-5 additional smaller containers full of balloons around the yard so that more people can grab and throw. It makes for a much more enjoyable time when you host a water balloon party.
#5 – End of School Year Party
What’s the most fun way to celebrate your child’s last day of school? Upon getting off the bus, the first thing your children would see is a water balloon set up. Check out this page for more fun last day of school activities!
Parenting Made Easy: 5 Tips to Make it Easier with Buncho Balloons
1. How to Fill your Balloons
The balloons should be held above (not too high) the bottom of the container / sink rather than sitting on it so that they “pop” off as they fill. Water will still come out of the straw as the balloons pop off the “straw”, resulting in a mess. It is best to fill them over an ice cooler, where you can drain excess water, or somewhere you don’t have to worry about a mess.
2. Is it necessary to fill the container with water?
Putting extra water in the container will make the top layer buoyant if you are putting the balloons more than one layer deep. In this case, the water is kept in the balloons by a rubberband while the weight of the top balloons pushes the water out of the bottom balloons.
3. Knowing this is helpful
It’s helpful to remember that lifting the water hose is necessary in order for the waterballoons to fall into the bucket. The design is brilliant.
4. What is the best time to fill up the balloons?
Do not fill up balloons unless you are going to use them within 15 minutes, balloons don’t stay filled long, so make sure you use them up as soon as possible.
5. How to Make the Balloons Bigger
Getting larger balloons requires filling these slower and with less water pressure.
Conclusion
These are just a few of the ways on how to make a water balloon fight easier. It is what worked for us and we really enjoyed the Bunch O Balloons for our event. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.
I wish you the best of luck and hope you have a lot of fun in your upcoming water battle.
