Hot Chocolate Cocoa Bombs Recipe
I am a mom and foster mom and my kiddos have been going nuts for these hot cocoa balls that go in hot chocolate.
Every day when they get done playing an activity they are like, “Mom, can we please make some of these?!”
When I was at Hobby Lobby I tried to look everywhere for the right mold but unfortunately, I couldn’t find it.
Therefore I had to take matters into my own hands! I wanted to surprise the kids and put a different spin on this trending recipe.
I used a cake pop mold.
Yes, it’s true that the coco bombs are not as big. The hot chocolate packets won’t fit inside. However, we put a unique spin on this fancy drink!
It still turned out super cool!
If you don’t have the right mold. No worries you can purchase it here!
However, again, if you’re like me and need to use the reusable trays you have on hand. Go for it!
We still went ahead with our silicone mold it was easy to use for cocoa bombs.
Instead of being medium small they do turn out smaller than what I expected but these tiny cute little chocolate bombs still make hot chocolate even cooler!

You don’t get a perfect size but again a cute fun miniature cocoa bomb.
This how we made them with just 3 ingredients!
We used our cake pop mold that was non stick. We filled both sides of the mold with chocolate. You will need to spread it around the inside of each mold.
After that, we put our chocolate in the refrigerator. I let it sit for hours.
Then, after the chocolate was harden it was easy to remove my chocolate “shells” from the mold.
I only had a few breaks on me. The rest stayed pretty much intact.
After that, my daughters and I added the following ingreadiatns, mini marshmellows, candy cane peppermint crushed up, and pink chocolate.

Other ingredients for hot chocolate bombs could include one of the following:
- Crushed Cookies
- Candy
- Sprinkles
- Carmel
- Colorful Marshmallows
The really cool part is I have seen recipes where people have used everything from homemade hot chcocale mixes, melted chocolate chips, liqur infused, and even egg nog inside of their hot coco bombs!
After we added our ingredients. Instead of melting the chocolate on something hot.
I again, put my own spin and used chocolate to hold my cake pops (or cocoa bombs) together.
It worked great for me!
After the ingrediants were added and the cocoa bombs were closed.
Then, I used the pink chocolate on top and just decorated the hot cocoa bombs in a fun way to our liking!
After that, we warmed milk on the stove.

Lastly, we added hot cocoa packets to the mugs like in the picture below.

Then, we poured in warm milk. Lastly, we dropped our miniature cocoa bombs into our mug of milk and they popped right open!
The kids loved it!
It was a hit! If the kids loved it. Then, there really is no right or wrong way on how to make mini hot cocoa bombs.
It was the easiest way we could improvise and we had fun coming up with our own creations!
