Hot Chocolate Bombs
I am a mom, and foster mom, and my kiddos have been going nuts for costco hot chocolate bombs. Instead of spending a fortune picking them up. We decided to make them homemade. It is so easy and takes minimal steps. Just like these diy santas or lego dirt pie!
Now if youre kids are anything like mine and get hyped up on the sugar. There is an easier way to do this. That is using a cake pop mold instead. The chocolate bombs work just the same they’re just a tad smaller. In turn, saves on the sugar!
Tip: I used this cake pop mold.
Hot Chocolate Bomb Walmart
You don’t get a large hot chocolate bomb (like at Walmart) but it makes for a fun miniature cocoa bomb.
This is how we made them with just three ingredients!
We used our cake pop mold that was non-stick. We filled both sides of the mold with chocolate. Easily do this by spreading it around the inside of each mold.
After that, we put our chocolate in the refrigerator. We let it sit for about 45 minutes.
Then, after the chocolate was hardened it was easy to remove the chocolate “shells” from the mold.
After that, mini marshmallows were added inside. We put the hot chocolate packet right into the cup due to the chocolate being smaller the whole packet wouldn’t fit.
However, other ingredients that could be included into the hot chocolate bomb diy could be one of the following:
- Crushed Cookies
- Crushed Candy Canes
- Sprinkles
- Carmael
- Colorful Marshmallows
Tip: I have seen recipes where people have used everything from homemade hot chocolate mixes, melted chocolate chips, liquor infused, and even egg nog inside of their hot coco bombs. I’d like to try the egg nog, yum!
After we added the ingrediants and the cocoa bombs were closed.
Then, we added a minituare lego man and lego blocks to it using a chocolate mold and chocolate lego pieces. Check Amazon’s price for the minifigure molds here!
After that, we warmed milk on the stove.
Lastly, we added hot cocoa packets to the mugs like in the picture below.
Then, we poured in warm milk. Lastly, we dropped our miniature cocoa bombs into our mug of milk, and they popped right open!
The kids loved it!
It was a hit! If the kids loved it. Then, there is no right or wrong way on how to make mini hot cocoa bombs.
