Nothing feels more like Christmas than giving a gift that someone needs. December 9th is Buy Socks for a Homeless Shelter day.

Now I’m not suggesting that you personally buy 100 pairs for the shelter. 

However, maybe you are the type that likes to ask for early Christmas gifts. You could let your family and friends know that socks is something that you’d want to receive for a gift this year.

After you collect them, wrap them if you wish. Then, take them to a local homeless shelter. I know this will put a huge smile on someone’s face that would otherwise not have had new socks in who knows how long. It’s certainly a very thoughtful gesture.

On the other hand, maybe you would like to just do something more personally and wish to give on a smaller scale. You could buy a couple of packs and break them up into pairs. This way they will go a little further then maybe to just one person. Maybe on average one pack would equate to four or five pairs.

For an added touch if you are really feeling in the Christmas mood, you could wrap each pair individually. Below you can find some warm socks or silly socks that can fill the room with laughter or just really lighten a spirit.

In fact, this doesn’t have to be just for Christmas. It is something that is needed all day, everyday, and throughout the year. It’s a great way to give back to the community. Whether you would personally want to do this or would like to gather church members, schools, or other organizations that would like to contribute. It’s a wonderful way to help and feel good about helping others. There is a verse in the bible that says,

“Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the LORD, and he will reward them for what they have done.” Proverbs 19:17
