How to Make Candy Pretzel Sticks
First, to start off making the candy pretzel sticks. You will need the following ingredients! Chocolate, Vanilla, and your choice of candy melts or wafers.
Tip: If it’s a birthday use your birthday boy or girl themed colors. If it’s Valentine’s day, I would choose pink, red, and white. If it’s Christmas I would choose white, brown, green, and red!
You will need to warm the candy melts or wafers on the stove or in the microwave. We personally choose to open each bag and pour all of the melts from the one bag (or wafers) in their own microwave-safe bowl. The next thing we did was melt the wafers or melts in increments of 30 seconds a piece.
While the chocolate is melting be sure you lay parchment paper down. After that, you will dip or roll your pretzels 1/2 way to 2/3 of the way down into your choice of chocolate. Covering most of the pretzel but shaking off the excess. You will want to leave a small amount for the receiver to hold the pretzel. This also helps prevents the child or adult receiving the present, not to get their hand chocolatey or yours.
Once you have the candy pretzel sticks covered. You will need to immediately add the candy sprinkles, candy pieces, or edible decor to the chocolate covered pretzel rods. It will allow the decorated sprinkles to stick to the pretzel. You could also choose to drizzle melted candy melts or chocolate chips if desired.
It took our pretzels around 10 minutes to harden and then they were ready for the pretzel bags.
DIY Edible Christmas Gifts
My daughters helped my mom decorate the pretzel rods and they turned out absolutely adorable! On top of that, my mom found these pretzel tins at the Dollar Tree! Best kept secret! That means $1 for each pretzel box! These sweet holiday gifts make such a unique present! Lastly, you could also choose to use stockings to add the decorated candy pretzels to as well. Good Luck!
