Don’t Just Give a Prize: Make Winning It FUN
THIS might be my favorite part.
You don’t have to simply hand the winner a gift bag.
Turn the prize itself into another mini Halloween experience.
Pick Your Poison
Set out three identical boxes:
POISON #1
POISON #2
POISON #3
Winner picks one.
Obviously, they’re prizes. Please don’t actually poison your guests.
I feel like that needed to be clarified. 😂
Choose Your Coffin
Hide prizes inside coffin-shaped boxes.
The winner picks one.
Graveyard Grab
Create mini cardboard tombstones with numbers.
Stick them into fake grass or floral foam.
Each number corresponds to a hidden prize.
Winner chooses a grave.
Skeleton’s Choice
Hang numbered prize tags from a skeleton.
Winner chooses one.
Wheel of Misfortune
Use a prize wheel filled with:
- Candy
- Gift card
- Mystery prize
- Candle
- Coffee
- Grand prize
- Pick again
Winner spins.
Trick or Treat?
Put two boxes on the table.
One says:
TRICK
One says:
TREAT
Treat contains the real prize.
Trick contains something ridiculous PLUS a smaller consolation prize.
Trade With the Dead
Give the winner a prize.
Then ask:
KEEP IT… OR TRADE WITH THE DEAD?
Behind the skeleton is another mystery prize.
They have to choose without seeing it.
THAT will get the entire room involved.
Mystery Pumpkin Patch
Number several mini pumpkins.
Each number corresponds with a prize.
Winner picks a pumpkin.
The Haunted Key
Put several old-looking keys in a bowl.
Only one key opens the box containing the grand prize.
Let finalists choose keys.
Now your Halloween party has suddenly become a game show.
Halloween Door Prizes for Adults

Door prizes are perfect when you want people to win something without having to dominate a party game.
Give every guest a numbered ticket when they arrive.
Draw numbers throughout the night.
Good Halloween door prize ideas include:
- Candle
- Halloween mug
- Candy basket
- Fall decoration
- Coffee
- Gift card
- Halloween tumbler
- Snack basket
- Cozy blanket
- Mini plant
Make your door prizes feel like a real Halloween event with Halloween raffle tickets hand one to each guest as they arrive, then randomly draw winners throughout the party. 🎃🎟️
Fun Twist: Surprise Door Prize
Tape a Halloween sticker underneath ONE chair before guests arrive.
Halfway through the party announce:
CHECK UNDER YOUR CHAIRS!
Whoever has the sticker wins.
Easy.
Unexpected.
And suddenly everyone is crawling under furniture. 😂
Adult Halloween Party Favor Ideas
If you want everybody to leave with something, use inexpensive adult Halloween party favors in addition to your main prizes.
- Candy bags
- Glow sticks
- Mini flashlights
- Halloween cups
- Funny pens
- Mini skeletons
- Halloween stickers
- Candy-filled cauldrons
- Hot cocoa packets

Arrange them on your party table and they can double as decorations until guests leave.

Avoid overly personal gifts unless you know your group well.

Last-Minute Halloween Prize Ideas
Party starts in two hours?
I got you.
Run into almost any grocery store, dollar store, coffee shop, or big-box store and grab:

Put three together.

You have a prize.
Nobody needs to know you assembled it in the parking lot 37 minutes before your guests arrived.
Your secret is safe here. 😂
Create a Halloween Prize Table
One of the easiest ways to make inexpensive prizes look more impressive is to DISPLAY them.
Cover a table with a black tablecloth.
Add:
- Mini pumpkins
- Orange lights
- Fake spiderwebs
- Friendly skeleton
- Halloween signs
- Prize baskets
- Trophies
- Mystery boxes
Then add a sign:
WIN IF YOU DARE 🎃
Arrange prizes at different heights so the table looks full.
🎃 Putting together your Halloween party? Don’t leave the prize table until the last minute! Grab these Halloween prize-table decorations now and get your glowing lights, pumpkins, and spooky extras ready before party day. One less thing to scramble for later! 👻🏆
Your prize table is now part of your party decor.
How Many Halloween Prizes Do You Need?
You don’t need a prize for every person unless you’re intentionally giving party favors.
Here’s a simple starting point:
8-12 guests: 4-6 prizes
13-20 guests: 6-10 prizes
20+ guests: 10+ smaller prizes plus one grand prize
For Halloween bingo, plan a prize for each round.
For team games, you can either give each winning player a small prize or give the team something shareable.
And keep one extra prize hidden somewhere.
Because ties happen.
And you don’t want to find yourself refereeing two grown adults arguing over a pumpkin candle.
My Favorite Halloween Prize Strategy
If I were hosting an adult Halloween party for around 15 people, here’s exactly what I’d do:
4 Small Prizes
Around $3-$5 each.
Use them for quick games.
3 Medium Prizes
Around $7-$12 each.
Use them for bingo, trivia, or party games.
2 Specialty Prizes
One for the costume contest.
One for pumpkin carving.
1 Grand Prize
Around $20-$30.
Make it a themed basket.
That gives you 10 prizes without spending a fortune.
And because some prizes are more valuable than others, the party gets increasingly exciting.
Match the Prize to the Game
This is one of those little details that makes a party feel much more thoughtfully planned.
Playing a Halloween movie trivia game?
Give a movie-night basket.
Pumpkin carving contest?
Give a Golden Pumpkin Trophy.
Halloween bingo?
Give a candy-filled cauldron.
Scavenger hunt?
Give a mystery treasure box.
Costume contest?
Give a championship belt or trophy.
Coffee-themed Halloween game?
Give a pumpkin spice coffee basket.
Matching the prize to the activity makes the whole thing feel intentional.

Frequently Asked Questions About Halloween Prizes for Adults
What are good Halloween prizes for adults?
Gift cards, gourmet candy, candles, coffee, Halloween mugs, tumblers, cozy blankets, Halloween socks, movie-night baskets, snack baskets, trophies, and Halloween gift baskets are all great Halloween prizes for adults.
For something more memorable, try a Golden Pumpkin Trophy, Mystery Coffin, Halloween Survival Kit, Pick Your Poison prize box, or Halloween Championship Belt.
What are cheap Halloween prizes for adults?
Candy, mini candles, Halloween socks, popcorn, coffee cards, fall kitchen towels, reusable cups, hot cocoa, small plants, and Halloween treats make great cheap Halloween prizes for adults.
Combine two or three small items inside a Halloween treat bag to make an inexpensive prize feel more substantial. A little tissue paper and ribbon can make a $5 prize look SO much more exciting!
What are good Halloween costume contest prizes?
Try gift cards, Halloween trophies, award ribbons, championship belts, Golden Pumpkin awards, movie-night baskets, Halloween gift baskets, or cozy fall baskets.
You can also award several categories instead of choosing only one winner. Funniest Costume, Scariest Costume, Most Creative Costume, Best Couples Costume, and Best DIY Costume give more guests a chance to win.
What are good Halloween bingo prizes?
Candy, mini candles, $5 gift cards, Halloween socks, coffee, popcorn, mugs, kitchen towels, cookies, and small fall decorations work especially well because you can afford several prizes for multiple bingo rounds.
Save your best prize for the final blackout round and watch how quickly friendly Halloween bingo becomes VERY serious business. 😂
What is a good Halloween grand prize?
A $25-$50 gift card, large movie-night basket, cozy fall basket, premium snack basket, Bluetooth speaker, giant candy jackpot, game-night basket, or Ultimate Halloween Champion Basket can make an exciting Halloween grand prize.
Put the grand prize somewhere everyone can see it before the games begin. Sometimes seeing what they’re playing for is half the fun!
What are funny Halloween prizes for adults?
Try a Golden Pumpkin, skeleton trophy, Halloween championship belt, tiny “I Tried” trophy, mystery coffin, giant candy bar, pumpkin wearing sunglasses, ridiculous Halloween crown, or a framed skeleton Employee of the Month picture.
Funny prizes don’t have to be expensive. Sometimes the completely ridiculous $3 trophy becomes the prize everybody remembers.
How many prizes should I have for an adult Halloween party?
For 8-12 guests, four to six prizes is usually enough. For 13-20 guests, six to ten prizes gives you plenty of opportunities for different games.
For larger groups, use several inexpensive Halloween prizes and one or two larger grand prizes.
And I ALWAYS recommend having one extra prize tucked away somewhere.
Ties happen.
You do not want to find yourself refereeing two grown adults arguing over a pumpkin candle. 😂
How can I make cheap Halloween prizes look expensive?

Presentation makes a HUGE difference.
Combine several small items inside a Halloween gift bag, mini cauldron, pumpkin bucket, basket, box, or cellophane bag. Add tissue paper, ribbon, and a Halloween gift tag.
You can also display all the prizes together on a decorated Halloween prize table. Add mini pumpkins, orange lights, fake spiderwebs, a skeleton, and a WIN IF YOU DARE sign.
Suddenly those inexpensive prizes look like something everybody wants to win.
The Real Secret to Great Halloween Party Prizes
Here’s what I’ve learned:
The prize doesn’t have to be expensive to be FUN.
A $5 coffee card can cause an alarming level of competition when there’s Halloween trivia standing between your guest and their latte. 😂
Choose prizes people will actually use or enjoy.
Mix practical prizes with ridiculous ones.
Create a few surprises.
Let people choose mystery prizes.
Turn a plastic pumpkin into a trophy.
Make the prize table part of the decorations.
And don’t be afraid to get a little creative with HOW your winners receive their prizes. A Mystery Coffin, Pick Your Poison box, Golden Pumpkin, or Skeleton’s Stash can turn a simple prize into one of the funniest moments of the entire party.
Most importantly…
Have FUN with it.
Because years from now, your guests probably won’t remember exactly how much their prize cost.
But they absolutely might remember the year Uncle Mike won the Golden Pumpkin, refused to give it back, and proudly displayed it on his fireplace until next Halloween.
And THAT is exactly the kind of party memory we’re going for.
So set out those prizes, start the games, turn up the Halloween music, and prepare to discover which one of your perfectly normal friends becomes alarmingly competitive over a $7 candle. 😂🎃
Happy Halloween and may your most ridiculously competitive guest win! 🎃🏆
