St Leprechaun Game! Learn how to play the Irish leprechaun game this St. Patty’s Day. We came up with a fun, out-of-the-box St. Patrick’s day game for kids in a pinch.
The St Leprechaun Game
Have you ever heard of the Easter tag game? It is where we turned a shirt into a real-life Easter egg hunt. The kids had so much fun playing this activity that they wanted me to make them one for St. Patrick’s day the following year. BTW we made a cute turkey one too. So fun!

Patrick’s Gold Coin Game Shirt
In this party game, there will be one player wearing a green shirt full of shamrocks, money, and pots of gold that kids are sure to enjoy chasing around. The person wearing it could be an older child or an adult.
First, you will need to place the dollar bills into snack-sized bags (like these snack bags here!)
Next, set out the novelty items you will want to add to your St. Patrick’s Day party shirt.
You may now arrange the items on your shirt where you wish them to appear after your glue gun is hot. I recommend only using a small amount of glue when attaching the item to the shirt.
Make sure you consider the size of the shirt because it will depend on whether the shirt will be worn by an adult or a child. With a large shirt, you’ll have more room and can put more novelty items or prizes for guests to find.
It was fun to put the items on the back and the arms of the shirt. There were fewer distractions for the runner.
Hot glue is the best way to affix the items to the shirt. Place each item in the middle of the hot glue and press it onto the shirt. In the picture above, for example.
I used hot glue because it was easier for the kids to pull the items off the shirt.
The leprechaun shirt will be finished once all of the elements have been glued and dried. Kids should line up in the yard and race each other, trying to get the most stuff. A prize will be awarded to the player who gathers the most gold coins.
If you are looking for a preschool idea find some fun games from the Happy Home Fairy! I also enjoyed the Over the Rainbow and Tic Tac Toe from Primary games too!
Here’s a great deal on chocolate gold coins to use for your game I imagine these may sell out very quickly since they are so good!
