First Time Cruiser Tips
I want to tell you how to save money while sailing through the ocean or out to sea. A secret tip is not to use the ATM on the ship.
The fees could be well over $10 per transaction. That is a lot, but I guess they call it supply and demand, right? However, there are ways around it. Check out these carnival cruise casino tips!
Head to the Casino and purchase chips (like you’re going to play the slot machine or Black Jack) instead of playing a game or hitting the slots. Just take them up to the cashier and check out. The fee will be much lower, and you’ll save a bunch of money by doing this.
If you purchase lottery tickets at the Casino. Be sure to scratch them and check for winnings while you’re still on the boat! You will not be able to cash it in after you get off the ship.
Second, while you are at the Carnival Casino, ask the cashier to punch a hole into your Ship and Sale card, and they will also give you a lanyard to wear around your neck for FREE! No more worries about your card falling out of your pocket!
Third, if you feel nauseous or forgot Dramamine, go to the information desk, and they will give your Dramamine for FREE (the same stuff they sell onboard in the souvenir/gift shop)!
Update: Carnival Elation wanted to charge $1 for Dramamine at the information desk. I don’t know if this change has been made across the cruise line, but I wanted to update just in case.
That’s not all! If you get bored, here are some carnival cruise secrets. Please stop by the information desk (or while you’re already there) ask them for a deck of playing cards and some postcards to send to family and friends back home! Again those items will be FREE! Woot! LOL
Smooth Sailing: Essential Carnival Cruise Tips for First-Time Passengers
- Book Early:
- Carnival often offers early booking discounts, so try to book your cruise well in advance to secure the best prices.
- Pack Wisely:
- Pack essentials such as swimwear, sunscreen, formal wear (for elegant nights), and any necessary medications.
- Check Carnival’s dress code for dining options to ensure you have appropriate attire.
- Arrive Early on Embarkation Day:
- Arriving early helps avoid long lines and allows you to start enjoying the ship’s amenities sooner.
- Download the Carnival Hub App:
- This app provides a daily schedule of activities, dining options, and allows you to communicate with fellow passengers.
- Consider Faster to the Fun (FTTF):
- This is a paid option that provides perks like priority embarkation, early access to staterooms, and a dedicated guest services line.
- Explore Dining Options:
- Take advantage of the various dining options, including the main dining room, specialty restaurants, and casual eateries. Some restaurants may have additional fees.
- Participate in Onboard Activities:
- Carnival offers a wide range of activities, from shows and live entertainment to games and themed parties. Check the daily schedule for events that interest you.
- Attend the Muster Drill:
- It’s mandatory, but it’s also essential for your safety. Pay attention to the instructions given during the drill.
- Bring a Power Strip and/or USB Hub:
- Cabins often have limited power outlets, so bringing a power strip or USB hub can be handy for charging devices.
- Stay Hydrated:
- Carnival provides water, lemonade, and iced tea for free, but other beverages may come with an additional cost. Consider purchasing a beverage package if you plan to consume a lot of non-alcoholic or alcoholic drinks.
- Book Shore Excursions in Advance:
- Popular excursions can sell out quickly, so it’s advisable to book your shore excursions in advance to secure your spot.
- Be Mindful of the Cruise Tipping Policy:
- Carnival has an automatic gratuity system, but you may want to bring some cash for additional tipping, especially if you receive exceptional service.
- Stay Informed About Time Changes:
- Some ports may be in different time zones, so keep track of time changes to avoid missing the ship.
Remember to check Carnival’s official website for the latest information and policies. Enjoy your cruise!
Wrapping Up Tips for Going on a Carnival Cruise
The best tip for beginner cruisers! Did you know that in the dining room you could order more than one entrée and three appetizers if you want?!
For example, if you don’t like the dessert. My husband loves cheesecake, but for another idea, easily order something else at no extra charge. Plus, if you miss your dinner reservation time, it’s okay. They can still accommodate you. You may have a little more of a wait.
Good Luck and Happy Cruising!
