Gift Ideas for Children in Foster Care
My husband and I are Foster parents (foster to adopt). We have three biological children of our own and have taken care of four other children through Foster care.
We currently have a little guy placed with us right now through foster care that we would love to adopt!
The fostering process can be hard at times. I remember when my first child was born.
People kept telling me there are no manuals, you’ll learn it as you go. It is the same thing with foster children.
It doesn’t matter how many classes you take until you are taking care of that precious child who has had a tough break. That’s when it becomes a reality! If you would like to read more about our foster to adopt journey please go here!
Thoughtful Gifts for Foster Children
The best part with this gift guide is that it doesn’t need to just be for Christmas time, you could use this for Easter, a birthday celebration, and gifts for children in foster care first day of school too.
In fact, this gift guide for foster children could be used anytime of the year or even for a just because!
For example, in my gift closet. I like to keep gifts on hand. You never know when they may come in handy.
As a matter of fact, I have these stuffed animals with blankets attached. It has been very loved by children in our care.
For example, when a child comes into our care and was is getting ready for bed. I don’t want them to go to bed scared.
I want them to feel comfortable. That is where these fuzzy blankets and friendly pillows come into play. It’s a sweet gesture for a child that has had a rough time.
Here is what I am talking about. Just in case if you’re curious! You can find even more animals with blankets here!

Another idea and depending on the situation. If you are able to get a picture with approval from the parents. You can find baby blankets or bigger sized blankets and add pictures to them.
As well as an idea would be to go to Daddydolls.com and have a mommy or daddy doll made up for them.
Something else that the kids have enjoyed in our care is night lights that light up onto the ceiling. For example, there are turtle lights and butterfly lights that will display stars and a beautiful night sky onto the ceiling.
There are all sorts of night lights ranging from babies, kids, and teenagers!
This Elephant night light is super cute! There’s a butterfly too!
A Unicorn night-light lamp that is easy to transport to the bathroom!
Gifting a gift to help make the child feel comfortable is very thoughtful. In fact, buying a night light just for them is something I do with every one of our placements. As well as I let them take the nightlight with them when they’re reunified. It gives provides them with extra comfort.

What a thoughtful, amazing idea to make a gift guide for the little ones in foster care!!!! Friends of mine fostered two sisters and I had no idea what to get them and was googling “gifts for a 5 year old girl” in the aisles of a store haha. Wish I had read this then!
