Inspirational DIY Teen Advent Calendar
First, I am a mom and foster mom. When it comes to being a foster mama you see so many heartbreaking things.
In fact, according to Children’s Rights, there are more than 400,000 teens in the United States that are currently in foster care. My foster son’s mom was in fostercare as well. With that said, I know teen girls and teen boys sometimes need that extra inspiration. A little pick me up. That is where this DIY Teen Advent Calendar comes into play.
I centered this advent calendar around teenagers that could use remembrance that they’re not alone this holiday season. There is someone out there thinking of them.
How to Make a DIY Advent Calendar for Teens
Let’s get started with the materials needed for this craft project.
Printer or Pen
First, decide on the inspirational messages you would like to use for your advent calendar. For example, you could use some of the following ideas.
- Bible Verses
- Quotes
- Sayings
- Meaningful Inspirational Messages
For your convenience, we’ve also included a free printable that will help you get started.
For example, perhaps, you would like to write personal messages for your loved one with a pen or black marker. This printable will be useful for that very thing! You’ll just write, cut and paste. 🙂

Second, once you’re ready to get started with building the calendar. You will need the gift boxes. I personally used 4 gift boxes and taped them together.
As you can see in the picture below. It will become a gigantic square. It is about 2 ft by 2 ft.
Now you’re ready to add your inspirational messages to your homemade advent calendar. You’ll need to cut the messages out and tape or glue them to the gift boxes.

Third, after you have the messages on the advent calendar. You’ll then add the post it notes. This way it will help cover the messages until the day of December that it is meant for. 🙂
Per the example below… it cut off but Dec. 1 the message is a bible verse and it says, Be Strong, Be Brave, Be Fearless, You are Never Alone. Joshua 1:9.
However, you can still see December 2’s example, which includes THIS IS NOT THE END OF YOUR STORY! And lastly, December 3rd’s message reads a quote about being yourself. Each day in this particular calendar will include an inspirational quote or reminder!
After that, you’ll write the numbers 1-25 and that’s it! You’ve just made your very own Inspirational Teen Avent Calendar!
I personally chose these colors on purpose to make it a little brighter and more cheery. 🙂 You’re welcome to use any colors you like.
Kids, teens, and even adults need to be inspired. What a beautiful way to remind them with a special gift. A DIY Teen Advent Calendar! 🙂
