This Easy Veggie Pizza Recipe made me famous!
An old school healthy classic appetizer perfect side dish for any occasion.
Easy Veggie Pizza Recipe
Yes, it’s true that this vegetable pizza made me famous. But not famous as far as with the world.
Famous as far as with my family, friends, and soldiers.
To understand completely “the famous” part. I’ll share with you the story behind the dish.
In 2005 my hubby and I were stationed in Germany, at a small military base near Frankfurt.
The soldiers (including my husband) were getting ready to deploy to Iraq.
That year we wanted to brighten everyone’s spirits and invite them to our home for Thanksgiving dinner.
To my surprise, we had around 34 guests coming!
Therefore, I knew I wanted to make this day extra special.
I thought about all of the food over the years my mom and grandma made that helped make our Thanksgiving dinner so special.
Which included some of the following…
- Turkey
- Ham
- Pumpernickel Bread with Spinach Dip
- Deviled Eggs
- Pumpkin Pie
But most of all, of course, the classic veggie pizza!
I checked the commissary and couldn’t find everything I needed.
It’s understandable with living on a small military base, they may not have a lot of the ingredients I needed.
But it’s okay because that changed everything about this dish.
For example, not having a package of hidden valley ranch was okay.
Therefore, I used an easy squeeze bottle of ranch dressing.
Which made the taste even better for this easy veggie pizza recipe!
I couldn’t get the side dish out fast enough!
Everyone wanted to eat it. As a matter of fact, almost 15 years later.
I still receive compliments on it and how they wish they could be eating my famous veggie pizza again.
In fact, I still serve this delicious appetizer today for birthday parties, holiday parties, and BBQ’s but I’ll never forget the first time I made it.

First, ahead of time, approximately, 24 hours. I add 3 Large Tablespoons of Sour Cream in a bowl and mix it together with Hidden Valley Ranch.
For one pizza I use 5 heaping Tablespoons of Sour Cream. As well as, 5 Tablespoons of Ranch and mix it together.
After that, I let it marinate overnight in the fridge.
Second, you will need to spread the crescent rolls out onto your baking sheet.
Just like your making a pizza.
Tip: You will want it spread out so you could pinch the seams together.
Bake it in the oven until golden brown.
After that, let it cool down.
Lastly, you are ready to add the toppings!
In fact, you could use any fresh vegetables or toppings of your choosing.
My personal preference is to use broccoli, cauliflower, green olives chopped, black olives chopped, and shredded cheddar cheese.
However, there are many people who enjoy homemade veggie pizza with cream cheese too!
As well as they like to take this cold veggie pizza appetizer up a notch and build it into this:
- Veggie Pizza Wreath
- Veggie Pizza Pinwheels
- Cold Veggie Pizza Bites
- Veggie Pizza with Cream Cheese
- Veggie Pizza Rollups
